About Radio Weesper

Growing up in a musical household in Amsterdam, soul, jazz, funk, and classical records shaped an early connection to sound. At the age of twelve, I bought my first DJ controller, a Numark Mixtrack Pro, and began DJing. While living in the Weesperflat for six and a half years, where Radio Weesper originated, I studied Composition Electronic Music and Sound Design. My influences include South African percussion and electronic music, Latin American Salsa and Baile Funk, and UK Electro/Funkyy, with big inspiration such as Tribal Brothers, BLAWAN, Grupo Niche, and Dlala Thukzin.

Bastien is Radio Weesper’s resident tech wizard—building the station’s website, streaming platform, and artist management systems from the ground up. A self-proclaimed nerd with a knack for hyperfocus, they are passionate about creating spaces where small artists can grow and thrive.

When they’re not deep in code or behind the decks as a resident DJ, you’ll find them crafting floaty, trippy electronic music as Crisp Sandwich & one half of bubble bouillon. For Bastien, radio offers a beautiful paradox: the ability to reach countless ears while speaking from the gentle solitude of the studio—sending their taste out into the ether to find whoever needs to hear it.

Raised in a household that lives and breathes music, Izzy heard it all from a young age. Her love and appreciation for sounds across the musical spectrum stems from her parents’ wide-ranging tastes, spanning everything from world and ambient to bass, footwork, techno and garage. Moving to Amsterdam in 2019 only deepened her connection to music and nightlife, shaping a central part of her identity today. With a passion for digging deep into sounds and artists, she began curating and hosting her own radio show in 2023 before taking to the decks as Djen. Izzy enjoys exploring both the programming and curation sides of the craft, as shown through her radio residency and role as programmer at Radio Weesper.
